Private test

Same people, way better activities. Zero callings.

MoNomo is a community app for people who have left, are leaving, or are questioning the Mormon church. Events, resources, friends, and somewhere to yell. Built by people who left.

Free. 18+. Not affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Who it's for

Anyone who has walked out of the Mormon church, is halfway out the door, or is standing in the foyer with questions. Resigned, inactive, mixed-faith marriage, still attending for your mom: all of it counts. Nobody here is going to ask about your timeline.

We left too. MoNomo is the app we wanted when we were figuring out coffee, Sundays, and who our people were going to be now. The jokes aim at the institution and the culture. Never at believers, and never at anyone's family.

What's inside

Home is Your Orbit: glowing circles you can drag around until they make sense to you. Each one opens a different part of the app.

  • Gather

Events like Coffee 101, Singles (18+), and Drinks (21+). Meetups and clubs, including mission-language groups for your Portuguese, Spanish, or Tagalog. A map of public meeting places, and a button to start your own group.

  • Resources

How to resign and what happens to your records. Guides for sexuality and LGBTQ+ folks. Coffee and alcohol tutorials for the newly curious. Podcasts, therapy, and crisis lines. Not correlated. Not approved. Actually useful.

  • Network

Your people, picked by you, not assigned by the bishopric. Add friends, find people who served in your mission, and celebrate each other's Ex-versary, the anniversary of resigning.

  • News

Real headlines pulled from real sources: LDS news, post-LDS news, and a place to save the articles you want to send your sister later. We don't write it and we don't make it up.

  • Journal

A private journal. Nobody reads it, nothing from it shows up in your feed, and there is no interview about it afterward.

  • Vent

Sanctioned venting. Unlike sacrament meeting, you are allowed to have feelings here. Break your shelf, hit the rage button, toss things in the burn box, or take the "How Ex-Mormon Are You?" quiz.

Ex or Post, your call

Done with the word "ex"? Flip one switch and the app says "post-Mormon" instead. Your words, your label.

Easter eggs

More than twenty of them, hidden around the app. We won't spoil any. We'll only say that faith is tapping the logo seven times.

Safety and privacy

Leaving can make people a target, and some of us are not out to everyone yet. Safety is built into the app, not tucked away on a help page.

  • Adults only. You must be 18 or older. Drinks events are 21+, and venues check ID.
  • Block and report on every profile. Blocking is instant, reports are confidential, and a human reviews them.
  • Content warnings on heavy topics, so you can choose when to read them.
  • Swear filter with three modes: mute it, leave it, or add more.
  • Banned words you pick, folded away wherever they show up.
  • Friends-only profile if you'd rather not be found by your old ward.
  • Private journal. Your journal and vent sessions never post to your feed.
  • Public places only. The map shows approximate public venues, never anyone's home.
